Leasing at the time of the Coronavirus: the BONUS FOR RENTALS of the Lazio Region
The COVID-19 emergency has inevitably shifted our equilibrium causing evident economic difficulties especially for the most fragile families. For this reason, the Lazio Region has made provision for a one-off extraordinary allocation in order to grant contributions in favor of tenants to partially support the payment of the rents.
But what is the rental bonus and what are the methods and requirements you need to have to use it?
The Rent Bonus is the measure aimed at students and self-employed workers and employees who have suffered a contraction of more than 30% of the family’s income due to the COVID-19 emergency.
Who can use it?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- citizenship of Italy, of an EU country or with a regular residence permit;
- registered residence or tenants of accommodation for work or study needs in the Municipality and in the building for which the contribution is requested;
- lease or lease assignment contract for duly registered residential property (cadastral categories A1, A8 and A9 are excluded);
- total family income not exceeding € 28,000 gross for the year 2019;
- contraction of more than 30% in the income of the family unit due to the COVID-19 emergency in the period from 23 February 2020 to 31 May 2020 compared to the same time frame in 2019;
- lack of ownership of property rights, usufruct, use and housing on accommodation suitable for the needs of the family unit in the territorial area of the Municipality of residence or domicile of accommodation for work and study needs. In this regard, it is emphasized that the following requirement must be possessed by all members of the family unit.
- Not having obtained a further contribution for the support of the lease from the Lazio Region, local authorities, associations, foundations or other bodies for the year 2020.
How much is the Rental Bonus?
The contribution is equal to 40% up to a maximum of three months of the cost of the rent.
How to request it?
The applicant must apply to their Municipality by submitting a self-certification of their economic situation in the quarter from 23 February 2020 to 31 May 2020. Within 45 days of the request, after verifying the citizen’s declarations, the municipality will collect the documentation and directly assign the resources.
